What to see in Galicia in 7 days?

Difficult to answer the question What to see in Galicia in 7 days? When we talk about Galicia, its tranquility, ancestral culture, magical mysteries, beautiful landscapes, excellent temperate climate and its great potential in tourism will always come to light. This autonomous community is in the northwestern part of Spain, and has the best challenges for hiking professionals, excellent invitations for lovers of marine gastronomy, and an excellent quality of life for people seeking fresh air.

The only disadvantage that this beautiful autonomous community may have is that it is large and plans must be made in advance to know what to see in Galicia for at least 7 days of vacation. If you don't know what to do, we are here to help you and recommend some activities and stops that you cannot miss.

Day #1 - What to see in Galicia in 7 days?

Tour A Coruña

The beginning of the vacation should be the beautiful and touristic city of A Coruña, since one could start from the north, and it is the first big city that can be found when entering from Asturias or Castilla y León. The most difficult part of this first day will be to see all the points of interest and tourist stops, which is why you should start seeing the city very early.

If you want some idea, you can visit the Hercules Tower, the Finisterrae Aquarium, the Museum of Fine Arts of Coruña, Mount San Pedro, Bens Park and the National Museum of Science and Technology.

Day #2 - What to see in Galicia in 7 days?

Malpica and its surroundings

What to see in Galicia in 7 days?

After spending a day of fun in A Coruña, it is time to take a short 50-kilometre route to malpica and do not be afraid to make a few stops to learn the route. If you arrive early in this coastal city, you will be able to really get to know a city that lives from the port and that has several attractions such as diving, beaches, and excellent gastronomy.
As a curious fact, you are already stepping on the famous Costa da Morte, which has an unfortunate history of the name and one of these impressive stories began less than 3 km from Malpica (Punta do Boi). If nothing stops you, you can visit Vigo, the Sisarga view, As Garzas and the Punta Nariga Lighthouse.

Day #3 - What to see in Galicia in 7 days?

Laxe and Camariñas

What to see in Galicia in 7 days?

If you want to enjoy the best of Galicia, it is time to take a small route early in the morning from Malpica to Laxe (30 kilometers) and do some walls of Ponteceso, and A Telleria. Upon arrival in this coastal town, have breakfast if you have not already done so and go on the adventure of looking for all the tourist stops in Laxe such as the Museo do Mar de Laxe, Praia dos Cristais, Pedra dos Namorados, the great Lighthouse of Laxe that It is part of the Rut de los Faros and the Miradoiro Da Insua to capture every second of the beautiful view.

After spending some incredible hours in Laxe, you must take the following route of approximately 2 hours to the letter to know personally the reason why it is called Costa Da Morte, capture photographs that can only be found on the internet and finish in the town of Camarinas:

  • Take the AC-433 to Recesindes and take the AC-432 to the Dos Ingleses Cemetery (English Cemetery) where the bodies of the brave crew members of the accident that the Serpent suffered in 1890 reside.
  • After paying homage in the cemetery, you can go down the coast and go up to the Cabo Vilán-Camariñas Lighthouse, which is part of the last lighthouses on the lighthouse route.
  • Finally, we proceed to go down to Camariñas to spend the night here, have an excellent dinner and visit places of personal or tourist interest.

Day #4 - What to see in Galicia in 7 days?

Muxía, Zas and Finisterre

What to see in Galicia in 7 days?

Are you ready to continue? If so, there is no time to lose and it is time to leave for muxia. However, you can go through the municipality of wham, which is 31 kilometers away, in case you are interested in the mystical thousand-year-old culture of Galicia, in Megalithism, in Castles of the Middle Ages and to practice a little tennis or soccer.

If you went to Zas, you will have to do a longer route of almost 40 kilometers, but you will have the opportunity to go through Dolmen de Pedra Cuberta, Dolmen Arca da Piosa, Dolmen Pedra Da Arca and Os Muíños. Upon arriving in Muxía, the first thing you will smell is that fishing village atmosphere that has history to tell, marine gastronomy everywhere, enviable beaches and attractions such as:

  • Muxía Lighthouse (almost the last lighthouse on the lighthouse route)
  • shooting stone
  • Virxe da Barca Sanctuary
  • Walk to Illas Cos Carreiros

If you had time for all this and you have a little daylight left, finisterre It will be the last stop for today, which you can reach in an hour making a stop in Dumbría or Cee. It will most likely be night when you arrive in this beautiful town, which is why you can look for a hotel, an elegant dinner and prepare for the morning.

Day #5 - What to see in Galicia in 7 days?

Fervenza Ézaro and Santiago de Compostela

What to see in Galicia in 7 days?

If you were not able to enjoy the municipality of Finisterre much, you can do so by going to Castelo de San Carlos, a nearby beach, the last lighthouse on the route of lighthouses, or go to a viewpoint to feel how the morning cold hits. At the end, it is time to leave for Fervenza de Ézaro, which is less than 23 kilometers away, which is the only freshwater waterfall in Spain that falls into the ocean.

This waterfall is only today's entry, as the next stop is the capital of Galicia, the ancient and well-known city of Santiago de Compostela. This place is well known for the ancestral pilgrimage of the The Way of Saint Jamesbecause it is claimed that the remains of the apostle St. James rest in the main cathedral.

We could spend hours talking about activities to do in the capital, but we leave this to your discretion because all the activities you can find are the best you could do. Additionally, we recommend restocking if necessary.

Day #6 - What to see in Galicia in 7 days?

Pontevedra and Vigo

Of all the routes, this could be considered the longest because it is 63 kilometers long to Pontevedra and 87 kilometers in total reaching Vigo; but it's still an unbeatable choice. In Pontevedra there are more than 5 different bridges, gyms, sports centers, a park in Alameda de Pontevedra, a bullring, the Colón Museum, nature trails and you can reach the only national park in Galicia, that is, Las Islas Atlantic.

You decide when to go to Vigo, but remember that there is only one more day of vacation left. Leaving Pontevedra, you can find tourist attractions such as Parque Forestal da Fracha, Salinas de Ulló, Muíños do Batán nature reserve and the magnificent Rande Bridge that connects directly to Vigo. When you arrive in Vigo, you cannot miss the Zoo, but you also choose all the activities at this stop and the place where you want to spend the night.

Day #7 - What to see in Galicia in 7 days?

Back to A Coruña

We know that the worst part of a vacation is when it has to end. This is why on this last day you could return to A Coruña and visit all the attractions that you could not see on the tour. In case you are very tired, we recommend leaving as soon as possible for A Coruña, since the road trip is 160 kilometers without counting that you want to make a specific stop.
